Active Foam Products was established in Illinois in 1958. Our original mission was to fabricate foam for the custom upholstery market in Chicago. In 1963 the company expanded into distributing upholstery supplies buying out Illinois Upholstery Supply Company. In 1982 Active Foam Products was purchased by its current ownership and began to develop the company into one of the premiere suppliers to the custom upholstery trade.

In 1992, Active Foam Products expanded into Wisconsin by establishing a fully stocked upholstery supply warehouse and foam fabricating facility in Milwaukee. This geographic expansion also brought with it an expansion of many new product lines most notably Spradling Vinyls. After just a short 3 years in Milwaukee, we expanded into our current 21,000 square foot facility along with adding new machines and capabilities.

In 1998, our Chicago operation expanded into a 43,000 square foot warehouse that has enabled us to add the necessary equipment to be more cost effective and to offer valuable new services unseen before in this industry.

In 2003, a third facility was added with the purchase of Foam Distributing, a foam fabricator with over 20 years of established roots in Detroit, Michigan. The upholstery supply line was added to bring to the Detroit market a full line supply house to serve Eastern Michigan. In 2006, we expanded to a 21,000 square foot facility in the near suburb, Eastpointe.

In 2007, we added computerized cutting equipment to our Chicago and Milwaukee location giving us capabilities to provide services that typically are only provide to large manufacurers to variety of custom trades that we service.

In 2008, we added Enduratex Vinyls stocking them in both our Chicago and Eastpointe facilities enable us to offer vinyls to support your residential, marine, automotive and contract needs.

In April of 2009, early in the year we purchased Century Fabrics a 25 year old Vinyl & Fabric distributor located in Chicago and brought their product lines into our Knox Avenue facility. Adding their Boltaflex, Nassimi, Morbern, and Naugahdye vinyl patterns has enabled us to offer a large

In September of 2009 we purchased Fabric Service of Chicago an Automotive Trim Supply House that distributes OEM and aftermarket products for Auto Trimmers' interior and exterior requirements.

In May of 2010, we purchased Simko Upholstery Supply in Poland,Ohio just outside of Youngstown. Simko Upholstery Supply was founded by Tom Simko in 1991 and services North Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvannia Upholsterers.
